This is one of the things I love most about Lexington. It's really of hub of entertainment within 6 hours of several large cities! My choices in order are..
1. Chicago - Eat at Harry Carry's, catch a Bears/Cubs game (depending on time of year), visit the museum of natural history (fantastic!), Sears tower, Hancock Tower (this one has a cheesecake shop in the bottom - very good!), Navy Pier, Michigan Avenue.....
2. Cleveland - Great theatre district, Rock n Roll hall of fame, Browns/Indians, great night life area called The Flats. We visited there for a weekend a couple years ago and really enjoyed ourselves and were surprised at the renovation the city has undergone.
3. St. Louis - The arch, Cardinals/Rams, pro hockey, great nightlife area called Lacledes Landing, riverboat gambling, renovated Union Station.
4. Atlanta - CNN center is pretty cool, lots of places to visit downtown plus lots of great suburbs to stay in if you don't want to go to far into the traffic!
5. Cincinnati - Great sports town with lots of great local restaurants in the downtown area ( Jeff Ruby's, The Precinct, Carlo & Johnny's)
6. Louisville - Downtown area on the rise with lots of new shops and restaurants. I've heard great things about their nightlife downtown too with the 4th Street Live area.
Hope that helps! By the way, when is the bus leaving for this....ROAD TRIP!!!!!!
OK Situated Giblets, we have some things in common. First of all, I love Cleveland b/c that is where I am from. Secondly, I choose Chicago as my first pick too.
My sister lives in the city (Old Town) and I love taking a short walk to Lincoln Park to eat at Cafe Ba Ba Reeba (the best and my most favorite restaurant of all time). It is spanish tapas and is incredible. Right near there is an awesome boutique for great shoes and accessories and then I'd cap the night off at Ethels, an incredible lounge. The next night I'd catch a show at the Aragon Ballroom. I've seen The Strokes there and it is awesome. Oh, and while I'm at it...instead of staying at my sister's (which is always fun), I would stay at the W Hotel. Why not, this is fantasy, right?
This is a fun one but I have to narrow it down. I've got the standard list of favorite places like Chicago, St Louis, Atlanta, Pigeon Forge, Cincy and Indy, but I've been thinking recently about places I've not been on a regular basis or haven't been since my youth that I would want to take the kids to see.
1)Boone NC-Lexi has been to summer camp here the last 2 years and it warrants further investigation as a vacation destination. It is considered one of North America's 4 adventure destinations. http://www.visitboonenc.com/
2)Nashville-Lots to do here. I'd like to go to the Opry, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, and the Frist Center for Visual Arts.
3) Peebles, OH-To show the kids the Great Serpant Indian Mound, one of the largest in the US.
4)Greenville, SC-I'd go through the BMW plant/museum and visit the Nippon Center to take tea in one of 2 authentic Japanese tea rooms in the US.
Hey Fred, why the tax-day graphic for the picture in your post? Is Crossroads giving away some kind of two day trip around tax time? I think that must be it. I hope I win. I would go to Gotham City. Batman lives there, you know.
I could lie and say that I'm going to fund my trip with my tax refund, but the truth is that I was just looking for a calendar graphic and did a lazy google search.
My trip to the Biltmore was great! I suggest going for a weekend! I cannot believe that house - the size and the things they managed to have in the 1800s!! Electricity, running hot water, a bowling ally! Crazy!! 255 rooms over 175,000 square feet! Nuts!!
And they now have a winery on the property! It really is beautiful!

I love to hop in the car and hang out in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge for the weekend, although I haven't done that in a while.

Never knew you were so detail oriented Patch.

Hope the replacement works better for you.
Nicely done.
A girlfriend and I are going to Asheville and the Biltmore Estate this weekend...I'll let you know how that is
I would go to the Smoky Mountains and visit Cades Cove and do a lot of hiking.
I would want to go to the ATL becuase I have a lot of friends there and there are some GREAT restaurants there. And the friends.
I have never been to Chicago (I know...GASP), so that's at the top of the list also.
I've never been to Gatlinburg in the winter, so that would be fun.
Reverb trip, anyone?
